After George Mbaye was elected Mwamba RFC chairman during the club’s Annual General Meeting held over the weekend at Railways Club, it seems the club is going all out to redeem its Pride of Kenya sevens heritage. Mbaye has served the club as secretary for the last three years. Jason Rosario Braganza was elected unopposed as secretary while Anthony Kabiru Karanja was also elected unopposed as treasurer.
Okay away from club logistics lets talk this weekend and just which squad Mwamba RFC is jetting to Mombasa for Driftwood sevens. Mwamba has looked imperious in qualifying in main cups brushing aside close to all strong oppositions in the tournament but haven’t reached the finals yet. In a recent facebook post by Mwamba Head coach John Mbai said his “KULABU #Magnificent7″ is coming soon, he named seven of the best not only in Kenya sevens but in international Rugby.
1. Dan Sikuta
2. Horace Otieno.
3. Humphrey Kayange
4. Collins Injera
5. Lavin Asego
6. Michael Agevi
7. Ombachi Dennis
Coaches should tense even more for driftwood not all the magnificent seven will be featured, meaning the lethal young tucks have stepped up enough to cause real trouble, Shaban, Brad to Gregory, but just for heads up Kayange and Injera might feature in the driftwood squad. “Eeeh Mombasa iko dimba”. If Mwamba gets maximum points from driftwood then clearly this series might just come to Railways club.
John Mbai has just thrown a “chicken leg” to other coaches calling for a loser dies fight.
